Limiting Characters on Category Blog Pages

You can customize the number of characters (letters, punctuation, spaces) on a category blog page in a Genesis Theme through the Genesis Theme Settings. There is a section titled: "Content Archives," with a text dialog box that allows you to choose a number of characters shown.

Changing the Sidebar on Category Blog Pages

It is possible to change the sidebar on Category Blog Pages by using the Genesis Simple Sidebar plugin, and by going to the Categories page in WP-Admin. Once there, choose the category you would like to edit,and click "edit." On the edit page there is a dropdown area where you can select the primary and secondary sidebars used.
